Insurance and tax

When you stay and work in a foreign country, it is important to have an insurance in the case of an accident or illness. Contributions to insurances may be deducted directly from your pay – as well as tax. In this section, you can therefore learn more about insurances and tax deductions.

Health insurance

Coming to Denmark, it is important to have the yellow health insurance card which provides you with free access to the Danish health care system.

Registration for health insurance

You apply for the yellow health insurance card at your local municipality. Learn more about the yellow health insurance card here.   

Accident insurance at work

Your employer is obliged by law to have an insurance against accidents at work or if work related health problems occur. Your employer is also obliged to report if accidents at work occur. 

Income tax

All employees in Denmark pay a percentage of their income in taxes. The tax must be deducted directly from your pay.
